Sylvia Gregorio Essay As a trainee I’m happy for the output that I have made. After a long preparation and great efforts just to make sure that this documentation were done very well, and when this portfolio were done all the fatigues that I had were relieved. I would like to thank first of all to god that gave me strength and their guide. Then to Sir Sherwin Sapin for giving us freedom and time to work this output, to my family and friends that gave me all their support, and to all employee of Experiment Station (IRRI). What have I learned from the experience? (Non-IT and IT) I have learned a lot in my training regarding in IT with the big participation of the Experiment Station Unit. My first job at the Experiment Station Unit is Unexpected. I’m really not expecting that the first day of my training was mentally painful. My supervisor asked me if I can make a program for their system. And what program language I am using. Then I said I can create a several program in Visual Basic 6.0. Then she decided to give me a job and at that day I’m not expecting that she assigned me to analyze the flow and flow process of a system. At first I am regretful and I ask myself, what is this? Why I tell to her that I can create a several program even though I really create a simple program but this is not a simple work it is totally mental painful. Well I had no choice at that day I had no idea what I’m going to do with that kind of work. I am thinking and thinking and thinking. What appearance should the system have? How does the system can help the users and how did I going to start to create a system? It’s seemed that my job here is really an IT related. And in the next other days little by little I construct a form. I’m searching for the codes and designing it step by step. Until every passing day I I have always an additional useful  codes, forms, layouts, and objects that completed my database system. It’s sp pleasure to me when I always added a new useful tool for it but eventually like I said it not easy to create a database system. You need a focus on it and fortunately by my diligence and perseverance I presented the system that I’ve made even if it is a simple system. The importance is it is useful, helpful and reliable to the users my supervisor was so proud at me specially me myself. Because I’m taking the name of my school that’s why I have the responsibility to promote it that’s why I’ve done my best to do what my supervisor assigned to me. When I always staring at the system that I’ve done I always remember the unforgettable moments that I’ve done in IRRI. At first it is mentally painful but eventually you also benefit on it. Aside from making a system they were expecting that I have a great advantage in computer technology. That’s why they always give me an activity in power point, excel, ms word, ms access, paint and I’m also installing a software sometimes. Because my profession is computer related I am always assigned at the computer field activities. When it comes from Non-IT job like paper works, office works and many more I’m also doing this activities like file arranging, file updating, inventory, odometer reading, seeds repacking, scanning, printing, laminating, phone call answering and many more. Introduction This Report is a compilation of all documents and experiences of the associate in Information Technology students namely: John Lester Banasihan during his Training at the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI). This Report tells to the reader what they have done and what they have learned during his On-The-Job-Training. It tells the reader how memorable this training experience. It also tells the reader what he can recommend for the improvement of On-The-Job-Training Program and his advice to those who will take their OJT in the near future. This Report contains four chapters; first chapter is History, Vision, Mission, Goals and Objectives and also The Background of the Company where they took his OJT. Second Chapter, His Weekly Progress Report. Third Chapter is the assessment of OJT and the last  Chapter is all the Pertinent Documents.

You Can’t Tell Many people feel that you can tell a lot about a person by observing what they wear and what they eat. This is not the case. Choice of clothing and eating habits, in no way, allow you to pass judgment on a person. Judging people based on these factors is extremely shallow. What one wears and eats in no way depicts character, behavior, or even intelligence. One simply cannot know a person by looking at them and observing what they eat. Such a thought is ridiculous.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Instead of looking at clothing and what one is eating, character should be the basis for opinion. Judging a book by the cover only leads to surprises, and in this case, judging a human by dress can lead to surprises as well. Just because a man or woman may not dress as nicely, they’re not necessarily bad or even poor. The particular individual may not care what anyone thinks. They may dress a certain way just so people will pass judgment on them, some may just want the attention. This is often the case. One’s appearance can lead to many false judgments. By saying someone is a bum because of what they eat or wear shows total ignorance. If a person did nothing to better their situation, they can be considered bums. If the person has good character and is just going through a rough time, passing judgment because of clothing and what they eat is wrong. Process of Learning Essay

Learning is an invisible process in which the behaviour is modified in order to attain certain goals. It is a process in which an individual acquires and develops knowledge, understanding, skills, interests and attitude that are necessary to meet life’s situations. This paper briefly analyzes the process of learning. Introduction â€Å"Learning is the insatiable curiosity that drives the adolescent boy to absorb everything he can see or hear or read about gasoline engines in order to improve the efficiency and speed of his ‘cruiser’† (Mark K. Smith). Learning can be considered as a product and also a process. It is the end product of the various experiences we come across in our life. At the same time it is a continuous never ending process as well. Even from the birth day itself the learning process starts. Learning and Behaviour Learning is observable through the behaviours of a person. An observable change in behaviour can be witnessed after a person learned something. For example, we know that small kids do not know much about the dangers of fire and they will be usually attracted towards fire. But once if they happened to come in contact with fire, they will experience the burning effect of fire and will never play with fire again. In this case we can say that the child learned to behave properly with fire and we can observe Process of Learning 3 the changes in behaviour of the child before and after experience with fire. So we can conclude that learning is characterised by change in behaviour. Behaviorism, as a learning theory, can be traced back to Aristotle, whose essay â€Å"Memory† focused on associations being made between events such as lightning and thunder. The theory of behaviorism concentrates on the study of overt behaviors that can be observed and measured (Good & Brophy, 1990). It views the mind as a â€Å"black box† in the sense that response to stimulus can be observed quantitatively, totally ignoring the possibility of thought processes occurring in the mind. Some key players in the development of the behaviorist theory were Pavlov, Watson, Thorndike and Skinner. (Brenda Mergel) (James Atherton) Process of Learning 4 Ivan Petrovich Pavlov was the first to conduct experiments to study how learning and behaviour are connected. The experiment was performed on a dog. He started to give food to his dog after ringing a buzzer. The experiment was repeated for 7 days and after 7 days he started to ring the buzzer alone and did not give any food to the dog. Still he found that the dog secreted saliva in the same measure as before. â€Å"Because a bell consistently rang before food appeared, Pavlov’s dog learned to salivate at the mere ringing of the bell; this is a conditioned response. † (Michael g. Maxwell) So it is clear that our learning and behaviours are interconnected. Learning and Thinking â€Å"Learning implies the acquisition of knowledge from experience, while thinking involves the conscious processing and use of knowledge. † (Michael g. Maxwell) Learning has definite connection with thinking as well. Nobody can say that he has learned something without thinking. For example, we know that lightning and thunder, both occurs at the same time. But we have seen the lights of lightning first before hearing the thunder sound. Though we have learned that both lightning and thunder occurred at the same time, in order to explain the delay of thunder in reaching us, we must think in terms of the velocity of sound and velocity of light. Only after we thought about the velocity differences, we can say that we have learned thunder and lightning properly. So learning definitely leads to thinking which may lead to the modification of behaviours Process of Learning 5 Behaviour and Thinking in terms of learning Learning leads to thinking. Thinking leads us to arrive at conclusions which will force us to change our behaviours. So in that sense both thinking and behaviour are interlinked with each other. Without thinking, no behavioural changes can happen. Same way without learning, no thinking can take place. For example, everybody knows that smoking is injurious to health. If a smoker, happens to meet a person who is suffering from cancer because of his smoking habit, may think about the consequences of his smoking habits and hence times he may change his smoking behaviour. Thus we can conclude that both the learning theories with respect to thinking and behaviour are connected to each other. Conclusion Learning is a complex process which stimulates thinking which will be resulted in the modification of behaviours. Thomas Mores multifaceted work Utopia has historically been subject to numerous interpretations. The main focus has primarily been on its religious, social, and political references by scholars. Although well founded his work also touches on a gender that was not universally accepted at the time, the women in his Utopian society were allowed liberties but they were still restricted in numerous ways. His progressive outlook with a desire to better his world and produce a more productive society stands out among his fellow writers during a time that was still considered the dark ages was a literary marvel. Numerous writers such as Plato in his work Republic introduces a society that produce active members of a community and improved lives and living conditions as a whole. An envisioned and improved urban industrialized world such as this would produce an ideal environment among a repressed society that catered only to the aristocratic upper class of England during Mores time. A fair and just society within the grasp of Mores mind could be laid out in verse but to actually present it as just for both sexes proved to be more of a challenge. However, Utopias patriarchal view still deny women an egalitarian right to Mores envisioned world. As individuals and as a citizen, men have been given an adventitious ability to live by their own merits and achievements. Men have greater access to politics that once was dependent on entry through aristocrat connection and birth. On the contrary, women have not been granted such liberties and are still mostly restricted to their traditional roles in the home. They also remain inferior and dependent on their male counterparts in the new imagined world of More. In contrast More has not created a Utopian society for women like he has done for men but actually a dystopian one that cannot allow women to pursue individual goals of freedom that would allow academia or government to play a larger personal role in their life. It seems that More does not partake in everyones pursuit of happiness or enlightenment as one has been lead to believe in the beginning of his liberated society. Therefore, Mores commonwealth as he describes it, does not do justice to both sexes. Men have always held a role in government and their community which directly correlates to the education given to them. More continued this in his Utopian society by allocating education to men and women but placing more emphasis on the role a man would play with his education. Women who were educated were viewed unjustly during Mores time period because to men it meant they were not focusing on their primary roles as mothers and wives. A womans children and her husband were of the utmost importance to her and she should not busy herself with such foolish ideas of academia thought most men. In other words, a woman needs to subjugate to her husband and children with a desire to remain obedient, diligent, and have no interest beyond the ho me. Although, More did give women a broader and more progressive role in his utopian society such as giving them an education, allowing them to work, and opening up military service they still remained a larger fixture within their home. More choose to educate his daughters but it wasnt quite the progressive image he portrayed in his Utopian world. He still believed that their education would help them fulfill their lives of being a better wife and mother. Plato, who was a Greek philosopher, wrote his Republic that touches on another type of utopian society. It was written in similar fashion to Mores Utopia in regard to the role of women. Athens, Greece had adapted an early form of democracy but still much like Mores England only allowed men freedom to an education, politics, and religious endeavors. The roles given to women in both mens works are more shared and productive than the roles given to women during each mans contemporary societies. They each agreed that all sexes shou ld have equal parts in developing and sustaining an ideal society. Platos views were in fact more equal to men and women than Mores, he argues that the only difference between men and women is a physiological one-women are able to give birth (Plato) More showed a view that was dominated by his religious background that did not occupy Platos era. More did distinguish women and men differently because his devout Catholic views that encouraged women being subservient to men. Thankfully, More did give equitable marriage to his citizens with a need for both parties to agree to the marriage which would have been unheard of in sixteenth century England. Women in the patriarchal society of sixteenth century was told who to marry and it had to be an advantageous move for her parents otherwise the marriage would not be granted. Therefore, Mores insistence on equal opportunity for both sexes have his ideas still falling short of equality among women. He felt that women were to have Christia n virtues and values. More also pushed for women to perform their duties in the home such as meal preparation, child rearing, and household chores. (More) In this encouragement it deflects from his want to present women and men as equal and productive members of society due to the fact men are still not involved in the home or child rearing. The want for women to create their own path and their own identity was growing ever more strongly in sixteenth century England. Women had no way of creating an identity for themselves if they were considered property of their father and then their husband. They would then only become labeled as a wife and mother, nothing else could a woman embody at this time in history. More still did not give women the chance to go beyond the image and position given to them by men and society. His utopian society still gave way to a hierarchical foundation even though women worked and fought alongside her husband at times. The only title a woman could hold w as as a priest when they would be admitted into priesthood, which was extremely rare. More truly left a woman in the traditional and domestic role known to them and left no room for them to enter public roles beyond that of priesthood. Although, the aforementioned did occur it was again on rare occasion when women are widows in advanced age this way she would still be able to carry on being a mother or wife (More). They are no longer a wife and her children no longer need her, so she can devote herself to God. Women were not in the public eye even with the label of priest, so it was not necessarily a beneficial role to a woman. However, in general a woman was very much treated along the same lines in a patriarchal way in religion as they were in everyday life. They were subject to admitting their sins to their husbands and be forgiven, however, it was not clear if husbands had to admit their sins to their wives. (More) Womens subjection to their husband would indicate mans belie f that they need guidance in their spiritual journey due to them being weaker and subject to sin that they would be unable to turn away from if given the chance. The unfavorable position a woman filled in religion was due in part to the very beginning of the Bible, in the book of Genesis, when Eve ate the forbidden fruit and her subsequent downfall because of her sin. This type of thought is more dystopian rather than utopian for women and completely gender biased to a mans intellect and inferiority to the weakness and lack of self-control a woman is subject to without a mans guidance in her life. Even though Mores work alleges to have created equal ground for women intellectually and morally keeping them confined within their stereotypical roles does not allow them to participate or be productive in the commonwealth as a citizen. Mores utopian themes in essence has actually been presented in a way that does not improve womens roles and in fact is in direct opposition to his ima ge of an improved state of being for the citizens in the commonwealth. It elicits the dystopian world mentioned previously where a utopian world is truly not something that is attainable. More seems to indulge in elevating women in his community because he saw potential in their abilities in society but still keeping restricted to the mainly to the home as a wife and mother. His views would come to fruition after decades and centuries of when his work was published. Womens roles may have been greatly restricted during Mores time and the fact that he held to the social patterns known to him, however, time would prove to be a womans friend and ally. Literature, government, and the home would be greatly affected by the ever-increasing roles women would soon identify with in the future of human civilization. Mores honorable and noble attempt to address gender issues does not create an uplifted and inspired woman with potential to make a place in his commonwealth. He aims and despera tely lands on a better world for men only with a perfect woman who falls directly under her husband. Her actions are strongly influenced by her husband and societies unjust views of a womans place and the way she should act. Conforming to this dystopian agenda would allow the woman to suffer and keep her hopeless instead liberating her into a life of political and socioeconomic reform.
